Communication Types & Direction


**Communication Types-
1. Unicast(p-2-p): Where one transmitter and one Receiver connected by a dedicated link.
2. Multicast/Multipoint/Multidrop(many-2-many): Where two or more transmitter and receiver connected by a dedicated link.
3. Broadcast: Where one transmitter and two or many receiver arise.
**Communication Direction-
1. Simplex: In simplex mode, the communication is unidirectional; means one way communication. Only one of the two devices on a link can transmit and another one can only receive. Example: Mouse, Keyboard, TV, Radio etc.
2. Duplex: Duplex has two parts.
                a) Half-Duplex: In half-duplex mode, both device can transmit and receive but not at the same time. Example: Walkie Talkies, CB(Citizens Band) Radio etc.
                b) Full-Duplex: In full-duplex mode, both device can transmit and receive simultaneously; means at the same time. Example: Telephone network.
